The Japanese lighthouse stamp People who share my birthday
"And now, live from Norwich... it's the quiz of the week!"
According to the Anglia TV website, a large number of viewers saw strange things going on in the sky on the afternoon of Friday 1st November 1968. Haloes, 'mock suns' and a whole range of other phenomena were reported across Eastern England. Full details can be found at http://www.angliatv.co.uk/weatherplus/signsinthesky.shtml I'm inclined to trust Anglia TV, as they were the people who brought us and Tales of the Unexpected and Sale of the Century. The station is approximately ten years older than me, as it celebrated its 40th birthday in 1999. A book, entitled A Knight on the Box, was published in celebration of this momentous milestone and apparently still sells well at £17.99.
Philately will get you anywhere
Work began on Japan's first-ever, Western-style lighthouse on 1st November 1868. In order to commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the event, a stamp was issued on the day of my birth, which you can view at http://www.hps.hokudai.ac.jp/hsci/stamps/1869a-e.htm
Sharing my birthday
I searched the web for some other people who'll be 35 on the same day as me. Whilst I'd like to be able to invite them to the party, restrictions on numbers make this impossible. By way of compensation, perhaps you'd be kind enough to give their websites a visit? Juan R Pardo-Carrio Chris Lareau Pipis Andreas Simon van Gend Heiko Jung
