Getting Here

Milwaukee travel is a breeze with many airlines providing service in and out of General Mitchell International Airport. This airport has been ranked for three years as one of the top five airports for business travel. This airport not only services Milwaukee, but southeastern Wisconsin and northern Chicago as well. There are many daily nonstop flights to and from Milwaukee. Look for these flights on airlines such as Delta, Northwest, American, United, and Midwest. If you decide to take the train, Amtrak has rail service to Milwaukee and a train station in the city. Greyhound or Megabus provides bus service. Where to Lay Your Head

There are some nice Milwaukee hotels, but if you’re looking for luxury and style, plan a stay at The Iron Horse Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. This restored warehouse hotel is well known as a must-see place. There is an interesting mix of guests here. It is for business and vacation travelers, but since the Harley Davidson Museum is nearby, there are a lot of bikers who stay here as well. The Iron Horse offers motorcycle parking, a bike wash station, and shop that sells biker accessories. The loft style guest rooms are beautifully designed and come with minibars.

Museums, Anyone?

Even if you’re not much of a motorcycle enthusiast, planning a trip to the Harley-Davidson Museum is one of the most fun activities in Milwaukee. It is a cool place. There is plenty to do here, like take a two-and-a-half-hour interactive course to learn about the different Harley-Davidson models. Or, visit the exhibit where you can actually get on a Harley-Davidson to get a feel for it. There is also a guided tour that gives visitors more insight into the story behind Harley-Davidson. But note, there is a fee, and it is in addition to the admissions fee.

Shop Till You Drop

If you are in the mood to do some shopping, check out The Shops of Grand Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. There isn’t a lot of stores, but this two story shopping mall is something to see. You can find great bargains and sales at such stores The Children’s Place, Famous Footwear, GameStop, Lane Bryant, Lids, Old Navy, Radio Shack, TJ Maxx, Trade Secret, and Scented Garden.
